GAME: VIDEO GAME RETAILER
IN NEED OF EPIC POWER-UP!

GAME is the leading specialist retailer of video games in the UK and Spain, holding a market share of over 30% in each country. They operate more than 320 stores and employ more than 3,700 staff throughout the UK. With increasing competition from online retailers, GAME needed to equip their sales team with the skills and expertise to deliver an excellent customer experience not found on the web.

Research revealed that the programme needed the support of an engaging platform. GAME teamed up with Growth Engineering to create GAME Learning Zone, a learning management system packed with social and gamification features.

APRIL 2015: GAME LEARNING ZONE IS UNVEILED
GAME Retail’s staff finally gain access to their brand new learning platform! GAME Retail’s gamified learning platform sends waves of excitement throughout the entire company.
APRIL-JULY 2015: A PHENOMENAL LAUNCH FOR GLZ
From April-July 2015, GAME’s 3,600 learners logged in more than 40,500 times. Within the first week of the platform launching, 822 pieces of content were completed. 80% of learners completed the training within the first week of it being made available to them. 98% of learners completed the training in the second week.
JUNE 2017: AMP TRAINING BOOSTS SALES
GAME’s AMP Sales Scenario Training saw a massive 89% completion rate. This resulted in a 94.3% uplift in the average basket since launching the training programme
JUNE 2017: TELL GAME GENERATES HIGHER CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT
Having reached an 83% completion rate on all Tell GAME content, there was a 109% increase in the number of monthly customer responses compared with the old programme. There was also a 19% increase in the number of customer who wanted to praise staff.
JUNE 2017: GAME HERO BREAKS RECORDS FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING
An impressive 28,775 pieces of content have been completed from the GAME Hero Customer Service module section. This works out as 10 pieces of content per person, and considering there is only 12 pieces of content per person in total, this is a fantastic achievement!

As a result, a total of 6,610 value pins have been awarded since 5th April 2016. This is increasing over time as 1,097 pins were given in the first nine months of GAME Hero between April 2016 and December 2016, with a massive 5,513 awarded between January 2017 and June 2017!

GAME Learning Zone does everything you’d expect of an LMS, like managing learners and hosting interactive training content. Its focus on engagement is what makes it truly special!

GAMIFICATION

As a video games retailer, the built-in gaming mechanics of the Academy LMS were a perfect fit for GAME’s staff and brand.

Badges: Learners earn badges for completing content and exploring the Academy.

Levels: Learners level-up as they learn by earning experience points. This gives them access to new sets of content.

Leaderboards: Leaderboards show off learners with the most badges, motivating their peers.

SOCIAL LEARNING

GAME wanted to build a community, so they’re thrilled that their learners are using GAME Learning Zone as a real social network. Their staff might be spread out across the nation, but on GLZ, they can all get together!

‘What’s Happening?’ Feed: A social feed where learners share badges and other updates with other users.

Live chat: Learners can use live chats to communicate in real-time.

Change Zones: Incentivised chat groups for individual stores and topics, where learners discuss certain topics or issues.
