Online E Learning for Business Training Success

Not only is online e learning cheaper than traditional classroom training, if implemented correctly it is also delivers better results, too. Find out how online e learning can help your business grow.

As a report published this week indicates, online elearning tools and services look set to play a key part in the economic recovery. The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) report, Investing in Tomorrow's Skills Today outlined the need for effective staff training to encourage engagement and enterprise.

But while many HR Managers may be choking at the thought of having to implement expensive training programs at a time of budget cuts and a lack of resources, it is worth highlighting research carried out in the US into the effectiveness of online e learning.

Studies carried out in the US by the US Department of Education into online learning and distance learning concluded that the results achieved via training in this way were not significantly different from regular classroom learning in terms of effectiveness.

Students who took all or part of their class online performed better, on average, than those taking the same course through traditional face-to-face instruction. Even when used by itself, online learning appears to offer a modest advantage over conventional classroom instruction.

The report also found that online learning can be enhanced by giving learners control of their interactions with media and prompting learner reflection.

Rapid authoring technology makes it possible to easily add user interaction via quizzes, learning games and tests into a course. These reinforce learning but also make online assessments and accreditation possible, too, so businesses can easily quantify the return on investment that elearning services provide.

Creating and delivering eLearning is an extremely effective way of providing targeted, powerful training in the most cost efficient way.  Typically an organisation spending £40,000 within the first year will see a return on investment of £120,000 - £180,000.
