Elearning Services Vital for Economic Recovery

Investing in skills via tools such as elearning services during the economic downturn has been emphasised as necessary to ensure Britain remains an economic global competitor.

The report, by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), Investing in Tomorrow's Skills Today,  is a CII prospectus for skills and sets out a seven point plan including education and lifelong learning.

The lifelong learning category encompasses the need for employers to support all employees and not just new recruits to help firms move with the ever changing and increasingly competitive world.

“We face a critical juncture in the development of skills in the UK,” said CII president Chris Hanks.

“A strong skills base is the lifeblood of any economy but as the new government and employers’ alike wrestle with harsh economic realities there is the temptation to cut back on skills related spending.”

"As a nation, we should not under estimate the importance of investing in skills training, even during tough economic times.  As the UK undergoes economic and political change we must grasp the nettle of investing in tomorrow's skills today or feel the loss tomorrow."
